MSMQ OOB Fix December 2025 Microsoft has released new KB updates. Please follow Microsoft’s official articles for full details:
Windows 10 version 21H2 & 22H2: KB5074976 Windows 10 version 1809: KB5074975 Windows 10 version 1607: KB5074974 Windows Server 2019: KB5074975 Windows Server 2016: KB5074974
We recommend exercising normal caution before deploying this workaround, as advised by Microsoft.
Update for EGPOS systems: All previously affected POS units have now been fixed. Support has been informed and has access to the public workaround. If needed, the patch can be removed on affected EGPOS units.
Next steps: We will not apply this update during the holiday period. Customers managing their own systems will need to follow up and apply the update themselves. We will be in contact with hosted customers after the New Year to discuss next steps.
At this stage, only a limited number of individual POS terminals are affected by the Windows security update released in December 2025. This issue does not impact servers running Windows Server 2022, which makes up the majority of our on-premises server environment. There are currently no production servers running with the newly updated Windows security patch. The update has been applied in one of our customers' test environments, where no adverse effects have been observed so far.

Monitoring
We have a new workaround which allows the Windows security update to be installed or remain installed. So far, we have seen the issue in cash registers with Security update KB5071543, KB5071544 or KB5071546 installed. The workaround includes changing user rights for the MSMQ folder in all cash registers to allow EG POS to write receipts to the message queue. After the user rights has been changed the cash register need to be rebooted.
Please contact EG Retail & Wholesale support if you have any questions about how to achieve this.

Identified
Description: POS in-store updated with the latest security patch released on 09.12.2025 will not send receipts via MSMQ.
Workaround: We can see that by uninstalling the affected security patch (KB5071544, KB5071543) and restarting POS, the issue is temporarily mitigated. As a preventive measure, we recommend stopping any further rollout of this security patch until Microsoft provides a resolution.
